Flexico’s 8Rs
Flexico, a player in the circular economy!
Today, the circular economy consists of producing goods and services in a sustainable way by limiting the consumption and wastage of resources and the production of waste. It’s about moving from a throwaway society to a more circular economic model. Find out more about the fundamentals of the circular economy.

Recycled
We offer a range of recycled packaging solutions: post-consumer recycled (PCR), post-industrial recycled (PIR), or regenerated materials (from our recovered internal waste). We also provide packaging made from chemically recycled materials (ISCC+ certified). We operate two regranulation machines to recover and recycle our own production waste. In addition, we have established partnerships with local recycling players to ensure full traceability and control over the recycled materials we use.
Recycled BagsRecyclable
We place sustainability at the heart of our strategy. Fully aware of the environmental challenges related to packaging, we develop 100% recyclable packaging solutions. Our recyclable packaging is designed to meet the requirements of existing sorting and recycling plants. This involves the use of mono-materials, the integration of certified recyclable films, and a constant focus on eco-design. The circular economy only makes sense if we design 100% recyclable packaging. Enabling our packaging products to be fully recycled and reintegrated into new productions, creating a virtuous loop.
Today, 99% of the products we sell (zips and bags) are recyclable.
Minigrip® OriginalReincorporate
We ensure full traceability of the recycled material we use, reintegrating it into our own production processes to support a true circular economy. The recycled and reintegrated plastic, certified as MPR (Recycled Plastic Material), can be either PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled) or PIR (Post-Industrial Recycled), significantly reducing our carbon footprint. We also operate a regranulation workshop to bettercontrol the entire process. We recover both our own production waste and external waste, actively contributing to the circular economy.
Reduce
We reduce the weight of our packaging while maintaining the same intrinsic properties. Over the years, we have decreased material thickness by 12% for zippers (since 2019) and by 17% for our
bio-based Minigrip® range. As for our operations, we reduce our environmental impact through various actions:
– Lower energy consumption (insulation, energy-efficient machinery, new compressors, LED lighting in workshops, etc.)
– 45% reduction in non-recoverable waste (DIB) over the past four years
– Reduction in the use of virgin raw materials in the production of our packaging
Reusable
Reuse is at the core of our environmental approach. We design reusable packaging, tailored to the specific uses and requirements of our customers. After more than two years of R&D, we developed reusable spools reels for our zippers (fully dismountable and cleanable). Our zipper spools reels can be reused up to have 10 times, saving 2 tons of plastic and 6.4 tons of CO₂* per cycle. We have also developed our own reemployable packaging for internal use, enabling efficient logistics between our various production sites. These concrete actions significantly reduce the use of virgin raw material and help lower our carbon footprint.

Responsible
We take concrete actions to reduce our environmental impact: preventing plastic pellet leakages into nature (GPI certification), recycling and processing cigarette butts, and optimizing resource management. Our certifications, including ISO 14001, reflect the rigor and seriousness of our initiatives. We are also committed to promoting local expertise and enhancing the skills of our teams through the implementation of workforce and career planning (GEPP). Finally, as proud members of the Coq Vert community initiated by Bpifrance and ADEME, we are committed to a strong environmental strategy and to help to guide other companies towards a sustainable, ecological and economic
transition.
Reclosable
Reclosable solutions are part of Flexico’s DNA: They are at the heart of our business and R&D, with over 160 active patents designed to make consumers’ lives easier.
We offer resealable packaging to extend product shelf life and reduce food waste. Our closures are designed for repeated and on-the-go uses.
Regional
Our products are manufactured in Europe, mainly in Germany, Spain, and France, which helps us to reduce transportation (lowering our carbon footprint) and to stay close to our customers.
In France, we promote local expertise and economic development through our two production sites located in the Oise region.
This commitment to proximity also extends to our supply chain: 60% of our suppliers are located within
a 250 km radius, and 90% of our purchases (excluding plastic pellets) are made in France.
Our products are made in Europe and our transporters are selected to reduce the distance travelled by the product between our factories and our customers, and to reduce our CO2 emissions.
