It depends on its composition. A laminated kraft package is only recyclable in the paper stream if its paper content exceeds 50% (French standard, 90% in Germany). Our recyclable paper Doypack® (paper/EVOH laminate) is designed to meet this criterion, while high-barrier laminates (paper/aluminium) prioritize maximum product protection.
The flexible kraft pouch is lighter, less bulky and often resealable, which reduces transport and storage volumes compared with rigid cardboard packaging. It offers an excellent barrier (zip, aluminium, EVOH) while keeping a natural look appreciated by consumers. Rigid cardboard remains relevant when the product requires structural rigidity.
Preservation depends on the pouch’s barrier and its closure. An aluminium-barrier pouch protects fatty products and those sensitive to light, while an airtight zip closure or a metal tie preserves freshness after opening. For delicate aromas such as coffee or spices, choose an EVOH or aluminium barrier.
