Polypropylene packaging bag
Our polypropylene bags
Transparent, glossy, and suitable for food contact, polypropylene (PP) is a material of choice for showcasing a product while protecting it. Flexico offers it in resealable bags with a self-adhesive flap or slider, in liassed bags for manual packaging, and in cardboard-bottom bags. Each reference is available in a standard format and can be adapted to your specifications.
Why choose a polypropylene bag?
Polypropylene is a plastic from the polyolefin family, like polyethylene. Its properties make it a material of choice for display packaging:
- Transparency and gloss: the film shows off the product with a clear, bright appearance, whether on a shelf or in a display window.
- Mechanical strength: more rigid than polyethylene, especially in its bi-oriented version, it holds its shape well and withstands handling.
- Heat resistance: its thermal properties open up applications that extend to autoclave sterilization.
- Product protection: it shields the product from ambient humidity, dust, and friction.
For enhanced protection against gases and aromas, complex structures based on EVOH are a better fit, such as our Doypack® EVOH bags.

Polypropylene or polyethylene: which material should you choose?
In their virgin form, both materials are suitable for food contact and cover most bag packaging needs. The right choice depends on your project’s priorities:
- PP for presentation: transparency, gloss, and film rigidity. It is commonly used for sweet or savory confectionery bags and in the textile industry.
- PE for flexibility and end-of-life: it seals easily, performs from -40 to 80°C without significant loss of properties, and has an established recycling stream in France.
One thing to note: flexible polypropylene bags and films do not yet have a recycling stream in France. They are recyclable in countries that have a suitable recycling infrastructure. If recyclability in France is one of your criteria, our PE, bio-based PE made from sugar cane, or recycled PE bags offer a suitable alternative. Details on each material are available on our materials page, and our commitments on the eco-friendly products page.
Food-grade polypropylene packaging
Our PP films are suitable for food contact. Combined with the film’s glossy finish, this makes it the preferred packaging for food businesses that also sell on visual appeal:
- Confectionery and chocolate-making: liassed bags for quick in-store filling, cardboard-bottom bags for assortments. See our candy bags.
- Biscuit-making: the cardboard-bottom bag stands upright on the shelf and shows the product through its transparent side. See our bags for biscuits.
- Fine grocery and bulk goods: the repositionable self-adhesive flap bag reseals after each opening. See our packaging for bulk food products.
The range covers thicknesses from 40 to 70 µm, with or without a bottom gusset, with a Euro-slot hole for hanging display or ventilation holes on Wickett liassed bags.

Yes. Our polypropylene films are suitable for food contact, as are all our PP bag references in the catalog: this suitability is indicated on each product sheet. They can therefore be used to package food under the intended conditions of use. It is in fact a widely used material for confectionery, biscuits, and fine grocery products. For specific uses (fatty products, heating, long-term storage), our teams can guide you toward the most suitable structure.
Yes. Polypropylene is a thermoplastic from the polyolefin family, obtained by polymerizing propylene. It belongs to the same family as polyethylene, but differs from it with a more rigid, glossier, and more heat-resistant film.
PP is recyclable, but flexible polypropylene bags and films do not yet have a recycling stream in France. Our PP bags are recyclable in countries that have a suitable recycling infrastructure. For packaging that is recyclable in France, we offer alternatives in PE, bio-based PE, or recycled PE. See our materials page.
Cast PP is a cast film, softer and more transparent: it is the material used for our non-resealable bag with an offset edge. Bi-oriented PP is stretched in both directions during manufacturing, which makes it more rigid and even glossier: it is used in our self-adhesive flap bags and our cardboard-bottom bag.
Our catalog PP bags range from 40 to 70 µm depending on the reference: 40 µm for Wickett liassed bags, 50 µm for self-adhesive flap bags, 70 µm for the slider pouch-style bag. They are packed in cartons of 250 to 2,000 bags depending on the model. Other thicknesses can be considered for custom packaging.
